Lynnhaven River Keepers
This is our third year spearheading the Lynnhaven River Keepers Program. This program is designed to teach the children how they can help clean the Lynnhaven River.

The children agree to practice the eight ways to rescue the River:

Down with Dirt Watch for Wasted Water
Fix the Fertilizer Frenzy Stash all Trash
Put away Pesticides Scoop the Poop
Monitor that Motor Oil Live by the 4 R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink! )

The children's names are placed on an oyster that is posted on the mural by the Library. Your child can sign up any time during the year. You can pick up a form from the bulletin board by the cafeteria or in the office.

Swimmingly,

Message from the President:
We are very fortunate to have a large and active PTA here at King's Grant. The PTA tries to offer a monthly program for the entire family. These activities and other information concerning the PTA will come home with your child on salmon colored paper. They are also listed in our newsletter, the Lion's Roar. There are many ways to volunteer at King's Grant Elementary. You can volunteer during school hours for various activities and jobs, volunteer on a PTA Committee, or at any PTA Event. We are always looking for volunteers. The PTA school phone directory is a free gift to all members of the PTA. Membership cards and directories will be coming home soon.

PTA Mission
The mission of the PTA is three-fold:
* to support and speak on behalf of the children and youth in schools, in the community and before governmental agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
*to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and
*to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
